The Sh'plegruven a beast of unknown origin; bipedal predator known to stalk the forests of the *name* region of the planet Jaliv'a. The only indication of the animals existence is a optic recording of one eating a Co’ir pilot named Sh'ple Gruven. The beast was named for him. No other record of it exists in the common galactic record. While the ancients meticulously chronicled nearly every life form in the known galaxy the Sh'plegruven is not in the Biological listing. It is required that all second year student of learning society academies view the Sh'plegruven record. The image is so gruesome that on the day it is shown buckets are placed next to every students desk. And NO ONE ever willingly watches again, anyone who does, is deemed not fit for service with Co’ir. (part of the point of the viewing) The stated reason is to show why it is never safe to venture out alone in the wilderness of an unfamiliar world. While the file is a part of the common galactic record it is common practice on all Co’ir vessels, and many freelance Spacer ships for the lowest ranking officer on board to delete the file after every stop; Any file missing from the record is replaced as part of the ships upload at any official stop.
While the only official record of the beast is the one in the Galactic Record, there are occasional rumors of the beast’s presence on other planets, and even some space stations. None of which are ever proven, or disproved as well. But unexplained disappearances are often blamed on the near mythical beast. The only true indication of the beast having made a kill is the combination of feces, assorted entrails fluid and blood. But the beast is suspected of “cleaning the plate” after it feeds.
